Cardiff Metropolitan University recently changed their name from University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC).
A recent Times Good University Guide described UWIC (CMU) as "The best new university in the UK". The Sunday Times also ranked UWIC (CMU) as the top new university in Wales, they wrote: "UWIC [CMU] has consistently been among the best-performing modern universities in the UK ... where students acquire skills that make them consistently among the most employable graduates."
In the most recent assessment, the results of the UK Research Assessment Exercise saw UWIC (CMU) as one of the most highly ranked of all new universities across the UK, in the process achieving one of the highest increases in the ranking of all UK universities.
Additionally, in 2010 UWIC (CMU) was ranked second by IGraduate out of over 100 British universities in terms of satisfaction for international students. This incorporates categories such as teaching quality, student facilities, student services, library and general atmosphere and experience.
